I have a Pentium MMX system with one of those dead Dallas chips, I've been thinking about getting one of those modern replacements that use CR2032 cells but they are a bit expensive just for a battery ...

I've recently been working on getting my 5160 back in operating condition; it had been in storage for a few years after the only working floppy drive on it failed. I ordered an XT-IDE to install in it ...

Ah, the magic smoke. I couldn't find a schematic for it but if it helps the part number for the power supply in the Portable 286 is 102818-001. I'm guessing that's where the cap blew. Here is the main ...

I've never tried any of those IDE to USB adapters myself, though I have read they can be kind of iffy depending on the quality and what kind of device you are using them with. I was looking up Travan ...

I'm not sure about Travan but I know LTO drives can only read back two tape generations. I searched a bit and found this page that seems to indicate that at least some Travan drives can read tapes one ...

The only CPU related jumper is JP1, CPU Speed select. It is set for 25/33/50MHz, where the other setting is for 20 MHz. I never could get it to go any higher than 50, though at this point it probably ...
