So, I ordered this very lovely 15MHz V30 board from Ebay about a month ago. When I recieved it, there was a jumper cap hot glued over the keyboard lock. Though, even after removing this cap, the board refused to see the keyboard. It was obvious to me that the board had problems, most likely a bad keyboard fuse. Though, The seller listed the board as tested and working with a 30 day warranty. However, I say that he is a liar. There is no way the board could have tested as working with the keyboard lock hot glued to the "LOCK" position. I questioned the seller about it, and he started spitting out information on the keyboard he used to test with. Infact, he claimed that I was incompetant and must be using an AT keyboard. I tested the board with several different brands of keyboards, and naturally nothing changed. So, just the other week I told the seller I want a replacement or my money back. He told me he would send me a replacement keyboard controller!?!?!? I was really confused by this, as I always thought that in XT systems the keyboard controller resided on the keyboard itself. When I checked my mail today, I was convinced that I must be dealing with a moron. Inside the little box sat a replacement NEC V30 CPU. I think this ebay seller deals in quite a lot of vintage parts, so you should be warned. He goes by pcequip, and has a surprisingly large number of transactions.

Some later XTs did have a little chip that was the keyboard controller and of coarse AT systems on up did. The Original XT systems usually had a set of TTL chips that functioned as the keyboard controller.

But yes he is pretty dumb figuring he can get away with selling trash as good, though I do have an 8bit isa device with what looks to be a keyboard connector, I wonder?

Hmm...your card could be a number of things, but likely either a proprietary scanner adapter (like an old handheld scanman), or a Microsoft Inport mouse card.

it's most likely an inport card. It should say something like 'Bus mouse' or 'Inport' and probably show the microsoft logo. Also, it only has one jumper, one so you can use it in the 8th slot of an ibm.

Its got a large AT keyboard like connection (actually just like an at keyboard), maybe its for a scanman, not sure though.

but then it's not standard 8-bit isa card. The keyboard connector would be too big to fit into the regular slot at the backside of an at case.
