He came to UCL eons ago (back when it was hosted on Bravenet) talking about writing an operating system. I'm just curious if anyone remembers him. He rewrote Doors 2000 (http://69.112.41.176:4321/NE/files/lost_files/) in Pascal and kinda disappeared after that.

I vaguely remember that. From what I recall he never got it really working (kind of like how my qdesk gui never got off the ground(really wanted a 800X600 16-bit color mode)). Perhaps it's time to dust off the source code again Laughing

He got it working about as far as Nukem got Doors 2000 working... He didn't get too much further, I don't believe.

I never thought of trying the URL that way... Good thing you're here, I guess.

I was surprised to find it worked too (With the redirection and all). The only problem is, if you book mark any site in that window it'll save as "http://eriks.servehttp.com/NE/files/lost_files/" because of the "no-ip" frame. Neutral

I remember the name, but that's about it. I miss the old Bravenet forum, are there any archives of it?

try www.archive.org and their wayback machine
I would try it myself, but I don't remember the url of the bravenet boards, since I only visited them twice before they were abandoned.

Ah! I remember the old Bravenet boards! I was thinking about switching over once or twice (I used disc.apps for ever) but then decided that simplicity was best. Razz (even though I'm share a PHP BB now. lol)

It's a little more complicated than a disc.app, but much better than the ad-infested waters we had to cross.

Bravenet's (or an entity using that identification) still around, but IDK about UCL's forums. If they exist, they're locked. Bravenet did some rearranging so the forums aren't in the same place. I've tried the old URL before and got 404 errors.

Ok, I just looked around Bravenet, and didn't find the old UCL forums. (IBM PC/XT and AT Forums.) They may have shut them down from no activity.

Bravenet did housecleaning of inactive forums several years back (not long after the old forum was killed)

We should have left it up to be trashed and whatnot just to catch stragglers.

I remember the actual XT forum on bravenet also (not uncreativelabs) don't remember what happened to that forum either since it kinda died after the guy running it quit.
