My 5153 is screeching like a TV, it's impossible to play with it for longer than 2 hours.
It's normal thing?

Nope, it's probably a bad power supply. You should have it serviced.

It was serviced in '87, but would anyone service that beast nowadays?

Probably not, but I'd like my IBM 5175 serviced too. There are schematics and instructions to repair IBM 5153s on the internets. I think the screeching is a pretty common problem that can be cured by replacing some bad capacitors in the power supply. Though, I'm not much in the mood to get electrocuted. CRT shocks can be deadly.

My 5153 works pretty good, maybe glueing some coils will help if it's not damaged capacitor or other irrepairable electronic part?

You may want to look for someone who does TV repair if you can't find monitor repair. They're close enough that a competent tech should be able to at least diagnose your monitor's problem.

Not even that many people even service TVs anymore. (Where did all those TV Repair shops go that you used to see?)
