I am about to buy a 5160 (finally) it seems to miss front IBM label but apart that it looks real 5160 (got the pictures from back, it says 5160). However I would like to have the opinions of some experts. The picture how it looks like inside is here:

It seem to have the memory card missing, am I right? Any other comments?

I guess the question is this: do you want it because of it being an 8088, or do you want it because of it's authenticity? Some of those parts don't look like stock IBM XT (floppy drives, controller cards), but it'd be unlikely the original FDD's would hold out this long. I'd never seen a 1/2 length MFM controller card until this picture. Also the case top looks "too new". I found a source several years ago for those and they came just as this one (almost identical to IBM stock except missing logo). Some of this may be attributed to the fact that it could be European-made, but it may also be a (partial) clone.

Just my unsolicited 2¢ worth...

That's a nice looking XT you have there. I didn't know IBM covered up the hard drive without leaving a spot for the indicator light to shine through.

Well at the end of next week or so I will report if I bought it and how it looks like in real. I think it is real 5160 (made in Europe) as the pictures of the back (not posted here) shows the IBM logo, the 5160 part number etc. And yes it was made in Scotland sometime in 1982(??) according copyright labels.
Shame is that seller does not have a keyboard and monitor and probably the memory expansion is missing, but I must start somewhere.

I did miss a complete 5160 with monitor and keyboard in auction a year ago (end price was about $120) because of 10 minutes. I am not going to do same mistake again.

the power supply really looks XT-ish
the slot nearest to the power supply should be empty or have a serial card
the floppy controller looks nonger that I remember.
the last card is likely the video card with a parallel port
all mono cards had a parallel port many CGA cards did not.
coulld be that had a modem in the open slot.
and likely no mouse as I didn't see the parallel card

KB older kb even those with 12 function keys ( 11 & 12 dead on xt's) will work if they have a switch
sometimes hidden in the foot or will be auto-switch/.

don't go backwards with a hd controller as you will get crazy text and corruption.

thankfully you have the newer wd wd1002-wx1 or a wd gen.
the original xt controller is a DOG, looks like a long floppy card with pins on ther side
LL format is incompatibel
those pieces ALL look very familiar to me.
