I could use some suggestions on networking a PC and an Apple IIgs computer. I just recently acquired an Apple IIgs with some other computer equipment. I purchased a special null modem cable for the Apple IIgs that has the mini din8 on one side and a 9 pin DE female connector on the other end. I can use a free program called ADT Pro to transfer Apple II disk images back and forth between the PC and the IIgs.

Now I would like to go a step further with it. I have Windows NT 4.0 server setup on an old Toshiba Satellite 225CDS laptop and I would like to use the null modem cable to serve the Apple IIgs using Windows NT 4.0 Appletalk / Services for Macintosh. I'm having a little problem binding the appletalk protocol to the remote access WAN wrapper. I have RAS setup on COM1 as direct serial connection. But I can't figure out how to get Appletalk to work with COM1. I don't know if its even possible, but I'd like to try using what hardware/cabling I currently have.

If there is a way to get this going from Linux or even DOS that would be great. The only other solution I know of involves paying big bucks for a special Localtalk to Ethernet bridge and connect the systems that way.

The usenet group comp.sys.apple2 is still quite active. You can access it from Google Groups if you don't have NNTP access.

Wish I could be of more help...

Your score is 202 (total of 350 points), in 866 moves.
This gives you the rank of Adventurer.

I subscribe to the newsgroup. Usually I am reluctant to post questions on a usenet forum, not the nicest of places. People tend to be very "elitist" on usenet in general but the people at comp.sys.apple2 are fairly nice.
