I learned back in win 98 days with my asus p2b slot 1 pentium II system, NOT to tamper with my main system.
as you know with my lkate wife's system upstairs, and the desk free, I used the area to run a third pc for this and that.

I chose a p4 with the bios I prefer, Onme with a clear easy to see screen.

I have perhaps stupifly stuck with thius for a long time. the main flaw is thjat it often refuses to see and use a usb keyboard.
it works and than nothing I can do makes it work.
My lARGE LETTER KB- FOR MY POOR EYES, SUPPLIED BY THE VA IS USB.
SOES NOT WORK WITH AN ADAPTERT.
i DO HAVE A VA SUPPLIED SET OF LETTER STICKIES.

MAIN FRUSTRATION WITH THIS MACHINE IS THAT IT REFUSED TO ACCEPT A 2ND THIRD OR 4TH DRIVE. IT WILL WORK OK GOR A WEEK AND THAN IT WILL NOT.
A C DRIVE WILL BOOT AND GO TO THE DESKTOP AND NEXT TIME GOES TO SAFE AND INSTEAD NO SAFE MODE IT JUST LOOPS./

sometimes removing the extra drive on a pROMISE ATA133TX2 CARD WORKS OK AND SOMETIMES NOT. MOSTLY NOT.

i DID A CMOS KILL AND IT WENT BEEPY. MY SON REMOVED THE BATTERY AND i WAS ABVLE TOP RESTART.

A DRIVE WILL BOOT TO THE DESKTOP
THEN REFUSE OR give a blank screen or blinking kb lights.

what is the point in time when I puit it in the driveway and run over it?

I suspected bad cables and a bad power supply
both fixed did not change anything.

this pc was originally from the scrapyard.
maybe that is the real problem.

if you have an idea I can call anywhere free
