I'm posting from a Sun SPARCstation running Solaris 2.6 and the Hotjava browser. Well actually QEMU since I don't have a real one.
I would have loved to have a system like this back in the day instead of Windows 95 but who could afford it? Not me!

I hope this posts ok, it is really slow and glitchy. This is one of the few sites I could get to load at all since it doesn't require https.

It's a VM but it's emulating a SparcStation 5 with 128 MB of RAM. Here's a guide for installing it: https://learn.adafruit.com/build-your-own-sparc-with-qemu-and-solaris

Would be tempted to run it natively on an X86 machine. Anywhere on the web that describes the last version to run on x86 (not x64) hardware? Last version I can find is Solaris 10. Would love to find an older version to slap onto an (approx) 1GHz PIII. I've pretty much tired out on most lite Linux distros....

I think Solaris 10 is the last version. When Oracle bought Sun they basically just let it die. There is an open source fork called OpenIndiana though, based on OpenSolaris.
