Also posting from my 486SX (25Mhz but has overdrive 50Mhz CPU with 16MB
or RAM) in Arachne.
I could never get this browser working back in the day but the latest
release seems to work. It's a bit slow. Slower I think than IE 5.0 in
Win 3.x. Netscape 3 is definitely the fastest. It's cool to see pages
for the most part rendered right and in 256 colors compared to 16 in
Win though. |

Nice Try Links 2.25 (has mouse support) I am using it right now to post a reply, fastest working one for me, also you could try microweb and run 68k.news. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm finally going to try and run Links 2.28 tonight and see how it goes. I only ever ran it on Linux and never even thought to check for a DOS version.
So far in my browser testing of what's available for Win 3.x, Opera 3.62 seems to out perform the others by a wide margin. The only issue is that it can't handle any HTTPS traffic. (I think 3.62 is the version... if not, the one I'm using is the last 16bit one they released)
I'm interested to see how well/if Links handles HTTPS given that it has updated certs. |
