Yeah, I believe in preserving old equipment, but some people are just plain whacked....

Probably some collector with too much money on his hands wanting to restore his "vintage" Dell computer. Actually there's another one over $100 with two days to go right now, maybe old Dell stuff is the hot item of the moment. I really need to start hitting the flea markets and junk sales again.

$800, jeez. Think of how many nice IBM or Zenith keyboards that would buy. You could probably get an Altair for less than that. Of all things, Dell?

Actually, the IBM and Early Zenith Data Systems keyboards seem to be increasing too. I've seen several morons paying $70-140 for a Zenith ZKB2 like the one I have.

It seems there are a lot of people offering XT keyboards for around at least $40.00. I'm beginning to wonder if people are just collecting the keyboards. If so, what's the friggin point. Then I must be sitting on a goldmine with all my stuff...

Zenith Data Systems ZKB-2 (in use on my GEM 286 right now)
Northgate OmniKey 102 (In use on the GEM PIII, typing on it at the moment)
M-TEK 108 (More Alps Keyswitches, used on my flight)
Maxiswitch XT/AT XT layout keyboard (spare)
IBM Model "M" "Space Saver" keyboard (my workbench keyboard)
IBM Portable XT Keyboard (Yep, I have one of those too (the keyboard, not the puter'), missing a key)

IF finding more for cheap would not be a concern I'd be putting them up on E-bay right now. Most of the keyboards I got were for free! I have one of those older DELL keyboars too, and I got it for FREE!!

I have the ZKB-2 also, best keyboard ever. It started out on a 286 and has stayed with me through every upgrade. Right now it's sitting beside my Logitech MX500 optical mouse on my Athlon XP 2600, by far the oldest part of my system but still the best. I did disable the little clicky speaker though.

Heh, I might put a switch on that speaker, since I like the click sometimes, but then I think I'm probably the only person who remembers that you can get the same click on a Compaq Deskpro 8086-386 by pressing <CTRL><ALT><+>. It was funny putting that Zenith on my Deskpro with the unison clicking, enough to drive anyone who hates the noise insane.

The Zenith is a close second to my Omnikey 102. I'm more of an XT layout man myself. I'd love to see a new computer in full size AT format with an XT layout keyboard, but like thats going to happen, lol.
