Well, though I had found the distro I was ready to commit to in Ubuntu, then got Slax and Knoppix Live CD's in the mail this week (from FrozenTech). I really liked the look of Slax, but couldn't get the PPP working with my modem. Then tried Knoppix and it worked flawlessly on my Celery 600.
What to do, what to do... |

I ran the live cd once but I never did an hdd install.I personally prefer RedHat and Mandrake ( but for no particluar reason,it's just that I know next to nothing about knoppix ). I think mandrake has the best installer ( or at least that was the situation 2 years ago when I last messed around with linux ). I think suse's pretty good too. I just bougth a linux book about two weeks ago and it came with a suse 9.1 dvd and it installed flawlessly on my athlon xp 2600+. It is also the first linux that was able to use my lexmark marknet pro printserver. it even autodetected the printserver. |
