The above link is to an article on How Flash Memories work.
I am having a little trouble conceptualizing how this thing works.

The article doesn't explain the technology too well. My question is about the oxide layer that is between the floating and control gates. Does that oxide layer hold a negative charge. If so for how long, because i would assume that it would drain and if it drains, it just drained my data.

It is held in suspension nearly indefinately the same way as old roms and prroms to my understanding
