I have a iomega zip drive 100mb and i like to know if there any free programs out there that will get it to work on my ibm xt. It a parallel port zip drive. I found one drive but it lets you use it for 7 minutes. I downloaded the one off of iomega web site but it won't work on a ibm xt since itdon't have any upper memory. When i did have it working with that on driver the computer read all of 100mb of the disk. So i hope there a free driver out there that will work. Hope someone can help me. Thanks for the help. |

You'll either need to have an EMS card and the fakehi driver that maps some EMS into XMS, then do some loadhigh-ing of the driver, OR use PC DOS 7(or 2000) which maps certain portions of video memory into UMBs. |

I also got the one from IOMEGA (for DOS) and I was able to use it on a Compaq Portable II (286) and it also only had 640K. You sometimes have to fool around with the settings in the "guest.exe" program to get it to identify the LPT port correctly... |

I've heard elsewhere (where, I can't remember exactly) that the iomega DOS program for parallel zip is not compatible with 808x CPUs.
Does this also mean V20? I have no idea. |

guest.exe ver 4.01
take about 26k conventional memory
and have nothing to do with the upper memory
and nothing to do with the CPU ( it works in my 8088 , and P4 as well) |

I have a registered copy of PalmZip. It's worth the registration fee.
I use it on a PCjr. |

ehm?
No I made a remark about the zip driver that was incorrect, I found out later.
If anyone could post or link the guest 4.01 I'd be happy... |

Here is an old driver:
http://download.iomega.com/english/dosdrvr.exe
Interesting from readme:
* Compatible versions of DOS include MS-DOS version 5.0
or higher |
