I'm working on a research paper for my Operating Systems class, and need to find some additional good sources for it.
The subject is text and graphical user interfaces, comparing things such as DOS and Windows. I also want to consider parts of the UI, such as buttons and icons with and without text. I'm having some trouble getting the results I need as of yet, part of it is probably ineffective queries, while other parts is this is a subject that's passed into obscurity about 10 years ago...
Any suggestions would be welcome, especially websites concerning:
1) Computer UIs
2) Using buttons and icons to represent objects or procedures
One goal of the research information I'm gathering is to avoid slashdot-like flame wars considering the subject. |

I had not visited that site. Thanks for the recommendation.
Any other suggestions? I may have to *gasp* refer to /books/ at some time. ; - ) |

Well, here's another....
Some of the links (such as this one) seem to be particularly matched to what you might be looking for...
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of "text-based" interfaces out there... |
