I have been using a system as a test bed and decided to copy some 5.25 floppies
I dug out an old " universal" floppy cable and hooked it up
to my surprise there is NO provision for 2 floppies.
I will just use the 1.2m drive for a while
BUT is there a work-around ( besides using a different system?
this a gatewat P500 "warm springs" Intel mb.

Most newer systems (i.e.---pretty much anything without an AT P/S connection) only support 1 floppy in the BIOS, so even if you had one of the older "combo" floppies (with both a 3.5 and 5.25" drives), it would still only support one of them... |

I have a dual Ppro ATX system that has a 3.5" and 5.25" drive, works fine (my server).
Pretty sure P2/P3/K7 systems supported dual floppies. |

I pit in a 1.2 driv3e and used it to make images of my 360k disks
the ms-dos 6.2 upgrade (12 floppies) and the MS-works ( 8 floppies) all copied properly
trouble is, I put the drive on top of a plastic floppy case and kept trying to slide off.
BTW I use DXP as it is
1)picky does not tolerate errors.
2)compresses data
3)includes sub-dirs
4) unlike wimage does not need software to extract |
