OK, just for kicks, I wanted to see if I could get broadband working on Win95 (not 98, mind you). So I took the lowest system I had available (Compaq 386s/20n with a 60MB HDD) and loaded it up w/16MB of RAM, an old Intel 8/16 LAN card, and the 13-floppy edition of Win95. Then upgraded it to 95A, and added Opera 3.62. Sure enough, it works with BellSouth DSL (but regular pages don't display much faster than with dial-up). Probably should have stuck with OffByOne and forgo Opera altogether. Also added WinWorks 2.02 as downloaded from mirrorservice.org (I may actually want to use the machine for something). So now I have a broadband Win95 (386sx20) machine. The persuit of knowledge.....what a way to waste a weekend (BTW---this page looks really strange in OffByOne---everything has to be "highlighted" before it displays...) |

That's probably because OffByOne doesn't understand the style sheet.
As long as your favorite OS has a TCP/IP stack, you'll probably be able to get DSL working. Maybe you could try it with OS/2 or DOS sometime... |
