it's possible you have a bunch of bad cards, or the scsi bios is fubared somehow
i'm not familiar with bus-logics but have never had a problem with the adaptecs. Is possible you have a bad cable or 2 aswell |

3 scsi cards, same thing, mabey its a messed up drive. is it ok to have the mobo's onboard ide enabled with just a cd drive hooked up? or will it cause issues? |

it might cause issues unless you can change the irq of the scsi card. try disabling the primary ide on the mobo and setting the scsi to that irq |

that's awesome you got it to work
You wouldn't know what type the bios chips on the XT are do you? i have a modded bios that i want to put on it that adds some things, like HD-FDD support among other things. |

well, after taking the time to replace the ram chips, i got the video card sort of running, the character set for text mode is correct, graphics mode is almost fully operational with corect colors. only a few issues left.
graphics mode issues are artifacs apear were ever mouse cusor is, other than that, the image is good, im using a dos game to test grapics mode
text mode issues-
1-screen goes blank after post , except for the flashing _ thing, this happened after the computer counts memory and then the screen changed over to the scsi cards bios display
2-when cusor is moved over letters , the letters change/disapear, background color stays same
other than those 3 issues, this card is working, might post a vid of it when i get a camera. im surprised it even worked as these are not the same exact mem chips as the original, but are the same as the ones on the pci version with same chipset |

that might be where your getting the artifacts from, the ram may be too fast for the bus, not too familiar with it to be accurate though |

Have you tried strong isopropyl alcohol to clean up the corrosion? That's what I use, and it works quite well. |

before you do that, is there anyway you can test the chips before you put them on? |

nope, but i did mark off the one chip that i suspected to be bad, due to corrosion on the pins, gona clean up the old chips with alcohol and see if they'll work again, could the artifact issue be caused by a faulty vpu, i got a pci mach64 with same chipset, tho is has a broken pin on it i could part out, the pci mach64 seems quite common compared to the ISA/VLB varietents |

that could probably work of you fixed the busted pin, but that does make sense, the VPU being shot in some way or another |

pin 7 on the vpu of the pci one is missin, pin 2 is bent up pretty bad, it was like that when i scapped the card from work. before desoldering the usefull parts, i tested it and the dang thing wont turn on, it just made the computer beep and thats it. now to figure out how to change it. also , i got the pci ones ram chips and DAC along with ati 18818-1's, wich im not sure what they are, they seem to be unique to an ati card, google gave me 2 possible things, its sram or a clock |
